This page explains how you can apply to come to the United Kingdom to work as a ministers of religion, missionary or member of a religious order.

At present, you should make your application under the exisiting ministers of religion category. In November 2008, this category will close.

If you are planning on making an application after November 2008 you will need to apply under one of two new categories depending on the type of work you will be doing. For both categories you will need to be sponsored by your potential employer.

If you are coming to the United Kingdom for a maximum of 24 months to undertake short-term, temporary work you may be able to apply under the new religious workers category. You will not be able to apply under this category if you will be involved in preaching or pastoral work.

If you want to come to the United Kingdom for more than 24 months or will be involved in preaching or pastoral work you will need to apply under the new ministers of religion category.
