How many points you must score to apply

This page explains how many points you must score in the points-based assessment to apply under the sportsperson category (Tier 2 Sportsperson) of the points-based system to work in the United Kingdom.

Full details of all requirements are in the immigration rules at paragraphs 245ZB - 245ZH of part 6A which you can find on the right of this page. You must read the policy guidance before you apply under this category. You can download the guidance and application form from the Applying section.

What categories points awarded for

Points are awarded for:

  • a certificate of sponsorship from a licensed sponsor;
  • English language skills;
  • available maintenance(funds).

As well as the above points, you must also have a governing body endorsement number which your sponsor will give you. See a full list of all governing bodies.

You must have 70 points to be able to apply.
