How do I apply to extend my stay (further leave to remain) under the sole representative of an overseas firm category?

This page explains how you can apply to extend your stay if you are in the United Kingdom as the sole representative of an overseas firm.

If we give you permission to come to the United Kingdom in this category, you will have permission to stay for two years. You can then apply for further leave to remain, up to a maximum of five years.

Making an application

To apply for an extension of stay (called 'further leave to remain') as the sole representative of an overseas firm, you must use application form FLR(BUS). You can download the form and a detailed guide to the form from the right side of this page. You must read the guide in full before you fill in the application form.

When you have completed the application form, send it to us by post or courier. The Where to send your form page contains more information.

Dependants

If you want to apply to extend the stay of any dependants, you must do so at the same time as you make your own application and using the same form. For more information, see the dependants page.

Any dependant children over 18 years old must make their own application on a separate form and pay the appropriate fee.

Fees

You will need to pay a fee when you make your application. See the cost page for the current fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is my immigration status while my application is being decided?

If you make an application before your authorised stay ends, your existing immigration status will continue until your application is decided, even if the decision is not made until after the end of your permitted stay. If your existing visa or other permission to stay here allows you to work, you can continue to do so until your case is decided.
