How do I complete application form SET(O)?

This page explains how you should complete application form SET(O) to apply for indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom as a domestic worker.

Before you complete the application form you should read the Eligibility section to make sure you meet the requirements to settle in the United Kingdom as a domestic worker. You will need to pay a fee when you make your application. This fee will not be refunded if your application is rejected because you do not meet the requirements.

You must fill in the form in block capitals using a black pen. Please enter all dates as dd-mm-yyyy, for example 29-04-2000.

Section 2 - dependants included on your application

You should enter details of any dependants you are including as part of your application. You should read the Dependants section to make sure those you include on your application meet the requirements.

Section 3 - which category

You should tick the relevant box to indicate you are applying under the 'employment not requiring a work permit' category.

Section 4 - knowledge of language and life in the United Kingdom

You should complete this section to indicate how you (and any dependants who need to) have demonstrated that you meet the knowledge of language and life in the United Kingdom requirements.

Section 5 - your home and finances

You should complete all parts of this section.

Section 6 - absences from the UK

You should provide details of the date on which you entered the United Kingdom to begin the period of stay on which the application is based. You should also list all absences from the United Kingdom since you first arrived.

Section 7 - personal history

You should complete this section in full. The information you provide will be checked with other agencies.

Section 8 - documents and photographs

You should use parts 8A and 8C of this section to indicate what supporting evidence you are sending with your application. You should read the page SET(O) documents for details of the documents you need to supply.

Section 9 - declaration

You must sign and date your completed application form. Your application will not be valid unless you complete this section.

  • What is my immigration status while my application is being decided?

    If you make an application before your authorised stay ends, your existing immigration status will continue until your application is decided, even if the decision is not made until after the end of your permitted stay. If your existing visa or other permission to stay here allows you to work, you can continue to do so until your case is decided.
