Changes to Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) extensions from Business Persons and Innovators

13 February 2012

From 6 April 2012 we will no longer keep applications open from Business Persons or Innovators making extension applications to the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) route while you get supporting documents. Currently we hold applications so that you can obtain evidence that you were registered as a director or as self-employed in the UK in the 3 months prior to applying.

We put this provision in place when the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) route was introduced in 2008, but we have found that it is not used, and it will be withdrawn from 6 April 2012.

If you apply on or after 6 April 2012 you must apply with all your supporting documents including evidence that you were registered as a director or were self-employed in the 3 months before applying.

For more information on the current requirements, please see the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) policy guidance.
