Ministerial change announced

Phil Woolas MP joins the Home Office as Minister of State for borders and immigration following the Cabinet reshuffle. He replaces Liam Byrne, who has moved on to a role at another department.

Mr Woolas is the lead minister for all the work of the UK Border Agency and is also HM Treasury Minister of State with responsibility for revenue protection at the border. He was previously Minister of State for the environment at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and Meg Hillier, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for identity, retain their previous roles in our ministerial team.
