Changes to online applications and payments in Madagascar
15 February 2012
From 27 February 2012 all applications for a UK visa made in Madagascar must be completed online. After completing the online application form, you will also be asked to book an appointment online to visit the visa section of the High Commission in Port Louis, or the British Interest Office in Antananarivo to submit a printed copy of the application form and biometric data.
If you choose to submit your biometrics in Antananarivo you must pay the visa fee online, via the online application system using either a Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card. We cannot accept any other types of credit or debit cards at present. Initially, it will only be possible to pay the relevant visa fee in South African Rand (ZAR). We expect to allow payment in other currencies, including sterling and US dollars, in due course. This should then allow you to choose the currency with the most favourable exchange rate at the time of the transaction.
If you choose to submit your biometrics in Pretoria you will be able to pay your visa fee, in cash, in South African Rand at the time of your appointment.
Once an application is submitted, it will no longer be considered locally, but will be forwarded by courier for consideration at the visa application centre in Pretoria. Our visa processing times will not be affected by these changes.
