Application Support Centers in the USA

This page explains what will happen when you attend your appointment at an Application Support Center as part of your application for a UK visa.

All visa applicants (unless they are exempt from enrolling their biometric information) must attend their appointment in person at one of the Application Support centers in the USA. You can find out how to book an appointment on the Applying for a UK visa page.

You can see the Application Support Centers in your area by visiting the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website (but you cannot book your appointment using that website).

Requirements for your appointment

You must arrive at the Application Support Center no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment time. If you are late, you will need to reschedule.

You must bring a signed and dated printout of your online application form, your printed biometric appointment receipt, and your original valid passport or travel document.

During your appointment you will enrol your biometric information. The Biometric information page describes the requirements for enrolling this information.

What happens after your biometric appointment?

After you have attended your appointment, you should submit your printed application form and documents to the UK Border Agency New York. For more information, see the New York visa processing hub page.

You may want to take advantage of our priority service, which is available for all applicants, or the premium service for Tier 4 students. You can find more information about these services on the Additional Services page.

Urgent and compassionate cases

You should contact our dedicated information partner WorldBridge if your application is urgent and there are compassionate reasons for travel. You can find their contact details on the WorldBridge in USA website.

Your request will be forwarded to the UK Border Agency in New York for review. We only accept urgent and compassionate cases in very few circumstances and you must provide evidence - see 'More information' below.

More information

  • Urgent and compassionate cases

We may accept applications as urgent and compassionate in the following circumstances:

    • serious illness or death of an immediate family member (the applicant's mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, son or daughter).
    • emergency medical treatment which includes people who need to travel with you for support (for example a parent caring for an ill child).

If you request a priority service for compassionate reasons, you may be asked by the UK Border Agency New York to provide evidence of the emergency e.g. a fax from the hospital or death certificate.
