Further submissions in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber
This page explains how a failed asylum seeker can make a further submission to the UK Border Agency if they are living in the North East, Yorkshire or Humberside.
From 14 October 2009, asylum seekers whose application has been rejected must follow a new procedure if they want to make a further submission to us. Further submissions can be made by failed asylum seekers if their personal circumstances, or the circumstances in their home country, have changed.
The procedures below are for failed asylum seekers who initially claimed asylum on or after 5 March 2007. There is a different procedure for failed asylum seekers whose initial claim was made before 5 March 2007 and whose case is being managed by our case resolution directorate.
If you are in Yorkshire or Humberside
If you are living in Yorkshire or Humberside, you must make your further submission in person at:
Waterside Court Reporting Centre
Kirkstall Road
Leeds
LS4 2QB
You must book an appointment to make your further submission, by phoning the regional asylum office on 0113 341 2127 or 0113 341 2130. This phone line is open Monday to Friday, 0900 to 1700. You cannot make a further submission if you do not have an appointment.
When you make your further submission, we will give you a letter telling you the date and time when you must return to receive our decision on your further submission.
Getting to Waterside Court by train, taxi or bus
The nearest rail station is Leeds. Keep your ticket when you get off the train, as you will need it to pass through the platform barrier. Once through the barrier, proceed straight ahead to the exit. A taxi rank is on the opposite side of the road.
Waterside is approximately 10 minutes away by taxi. Ask for the Home Office buildings on Kirkstall Road, past the Vue Cinema (formerly Warner Village) and next to the Esso garage.
The following bus services all run past Waterside: 15, 33, 33a, 757, 760 and 670.
Getting to Waterside Court by car
From the M1 or M62, join the correct lane for the merger into the M621.
Leave the M621 at Junction 2, and at the roundabout join the A643 northbound towards Headingley Stadium. (From the M1 direction, move into the right lane of the off-ramp and take the third turnoff. From the M62 direction, move into the left lane of the off-ramp and take the first turnoff).
Once you are on the A643, join the right lane and at the next roundabout take the third turnoff towards the A58M. Stay in the left lane, and take the slip road off the A58 where it becomes the A58M (500 metres after the roundabout). Follow the road onto the A65 (left), then follow the A65 for two miles. You will pass under a viaduct and then a McDonald's on your left.
On your left you will soon see an Esso garage, with a pedestrian crossing and the Waterside Court entrance beyond it.
