Maritime

This section gives information specifically for maritime carriers that are required to provide advance electronic information about passengers and crew under our e-Borders programme. See Non-passenger merchant shipping if you operate commercial shipping except ferry, cruise, leisure and fishing vessels. It includes:

  • cargo vessels including containers, break bulk, dry bulk, wet bulk and vehicles;
  • dredgers, cable layers and other off-shore working vessels; and
  • off-shore supply and tugs.

Terms explained

  • Carrier

    A person or organisation that transports passengers or goods in and out of the United Kingdom.

  • Cruise ships

    This is a passenger-only vessel that travels to one or more destinations.
