Submitting evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee

This page explains how you can submit evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee.

The call for evidence in relation to our initial recommended shortage occupation list in August is now closed. However, the committee is committed to providing evidence-based advice to government on an ongoing basis. Its methodology is outlined in a report published at the end of February 2008.

Evidence submitted by stakeholders is an important element of the evidence base on which the committee is working. We therefore encourage stakeholders to contact us with evidence when it is believed that an occupation should be added to the shortage occupation list.

The committee will review the shortage occupation list on a regular basis.

In order to help us consider your evidence it should be organised in the following way:

1. Give details of your name, address, contact details and organisation details where applicable.

2. If you are submitting evidence in relation to whether jobs or occupations should be included on the shortage occupation list please specify occupation and job titles according to the SOC2000 classification (see Standard occupation classifications below).

3. Does the occupation or job title you are suggesting satisfy each of the our criteria in relation to 'skilled', 'shortage' and 'sensible' as outlined in our February 2008 report? Please provide supporting evidence.

4. Where possible please submit your evidence using the proforma for response.
