Seating in our waiting area is limited, so please do not bring unnecessary baggage. You cannot bring laptop computers or loads of shopping bags into the building. All baggage is searched before you are allowed to enter the building. At peak times, non-dependent adults who do not need to accompany you may be refused entry. We will ask you to switch your mobile phones off while in the building.
When we carry out our 'pre-assessment' of your application, we will tell you the estimated completion time for the application. When you have enrolled your biometric information, you will be able to leave the building. We will phone you when we have finished considering your application - if we do not phone you or you do not have a mobile phone, please return at your estimated completion time or by 16:00 at the latest.
Completion times vary, depending on the circumstances and complexity of your case. You can expect to wait between 3 and 3.5 hours from your appointment time before we make a decision, but this time can vary and your caseworker might want to speak to you in person. Please do not book any return public transport for the day of your appointment.
